Friday 3- 12- 13
I got up today reminding myself that I am pulling myself out of this cold hard bed and shaking myself from the light sleep for a good reason. I had the same lesson about school that I taught last week
I taught about school and I rocked it of course. I only say that because I love teaching it. I could have totally sucked at it but I don't care I loved it. Susan and Alicia came to evaluate us so I guess I’ll find out sooner or later about how my lesson went. Rachelle and I ate at the school which wasn't that bad but we realized we had 10min before our in-service meeting was going to start. Shoot dog we need to split! We told them we had to go so we ran over to the driver and he seemed to sense the urgency. We told him it was just the two of us and we headed on our way. Luckily the school is pretty close so we got there with 5min till we had to be in the very back of the campus on the top floor in the furthest building over. Got to start somewhere,So one foot in front of the other. We pushed it up the stairs and walked on the flat surfaces in between each section of stairs. We were mostly stressed because Hannah and Maddie were already at the school so it shows that we could have been there but we weren't and we don't want to ruin the relationship and trust with our head teachers. We got near the top of the campus next to the cafeteria to see Hannah and Amanda and asked if in-service really was at 12:15. They said it was but , after lunch when you all get there. PHEW so we had time and we didn't need to stress. We got up to the common room and met up with all the teachers and waited and waited but the head teachers didn't come and come to find out its because they had to send one of the ILP teachers home.
I spent that time face timing Moe and doing lesson plans until Sam and Crista came in and said they were going to the JiaJiayue to get some food and stuff for the animals at the zoo. We heard that we can feed the animals so we might as well grab some munchies for us and the animals while we are at it. (did I mention we are going to the zoo tomorrow?)
We ended up going with us three and Ben and Josh to the small JiaJiayue just down the street to get our grub. I got myself some dried bananas and bread for me as well as the animals. I want to try to have some PB& honey sandwiches instead of oily vegetables that made me think I was eating healthy. I also thought it would be good so I can pack a sandwich for the zoo. Crista and Sam checked out the cucumbers and other produce while we were there and I guess I am just not that adventurous. Maybe in a little while but till then I know my honey and PB is good.
We walked back from the JiaJia and I picked up the water for our room so we didn't have to go thirsty this weekend. Sam has done it the last couple times so its for sure my turn. When I got back I was sitting in my room drawing pictures for next week’s lesson when Sarah came in asking if we wanted to do something tonight. I was totally down. Sam and Crista are pretty much Besties now. So when Kelly told Sam that Jack wanted to make American friends she invited Crista to come along with her to make dinner with Jack, one of the teachers here, Because we knew they would be busy all night, Sarah and I weren't sure what we could do for a new adventure and decided we would hop on the bus and get off at a random stop or where ever looked interesting. 5:00 came around and I Met up with Alicia, Sarah, Rachelle, Andrea, and Jay. It’s a different crowd than I usually am with but I like switching things up. Different people do different things and I don't like staying the same. We headed to the bus stop and ended up meeting with a whole bunch of different groups from ILP some were going into town, others were headed to get “Chinese tacos” but we were dead set on doing something new.
We got on the bus and ended up getting off at a stop that looked like a market. We have seen it plenty of times before and always said “let’s go there” but never have... until now. We hopped off and went exploring! It was a really cool market! I never would have guessed that there were clothing stores and places to eat etc back there but there was!
Pretty sure they had brought a cow in and were chopping it up at one place. Big ol butcher knife and a cigarette in his mouth, hacking away at chunks and chunks of meat!
Welcome to china, where anything that can sell gets sold.
After exploring we decided to get some food. I found the yummy burrito that I had in Jinan of the street. ←( haha that sounds like I just picked it up off the asphalt) And it was just as good as before!
We got a whole roll of sushi for 6 ¥ ← (figured out how to do the symbol.
) Which is a dollar! Holla! I got a sushi roll and split off with Rachelle when everyone else was ready to head back to the school.
Rachelle and I roamed the stores and tried on clothes. (Well, mostly Rachelle did) I had lots of fun soaking everything up and just hanging out. On our way out of the market I hit up a store and yes, you guessed it, got myself some ice cream. We hopped on the bus and headed home.
Tonight was such a blast, I got transportation, a full tummy and a Friday night full of fun for 14¥ … that’s just over 2 dollars. Only in China.!
I am in my room right now just chilling on my bed, Sam is in Crista and Rachelle's room hanging out but I am ready to get some sleep. Especially because I’m going to the zoo tomorrow!!
