Today is Sam's Birthday and good old St. Pattys day!!! Sam, Rachelle and Crista had a sleep over in Crist and Rachelle's room last night so I was able to get up and start my day early and loud :) the whole sleep over thing was a bit of a miscommunication and I thought that it was some sort of party just for the three of them so oi kept my distance but later found out that they just thought I would assume that I was invited to their party. It was good to know I wasn’t being ditched butm, even if they had verbally invited me I don’t think I would have accepted. Love the girls but as if the beds aren’t already hard and uncomfortable, nothing worthwhile happens at sleep overs other than baggy eyes and sleep deprivation headaches in the morning. Ha so instead I was up and moving 6:30am music a blasting the whole works! I got to Face Time with the Andersons for a while cuz momma and poppa were not in wifi range and Cody and Aaron were busy with dinner but It was good to have contact with the outside world. Don't miss it yet but its still good to hear a familiar voice! Or 3 ;) I got all dressed in my St Patty's day attire (green striped shirt) and applied my fancy 4 leaf clover temporary tattoo that I found in the supply room a few weeks ago just for today ;) real mature I know. I put it on my forearm so just in case people didn't see my green shirt they would for sure see my lovely new tattoo haha never hurts to be double covered! I went out and chose a spot on the couch for church and enjoyed our sacrament meeting. Today, instead of Sunday school, (the rotate between Sunday school elders quorum and relief society) it was Elders quorum so I felt no guilt in changing and making my way to the cafeteria to my lunch :) it was scrumptious. After lunch we all ended up migrated into my room. I don’t know how but it seems to always happen. And we watched a few movies on Sam's laptop cuz that’s what she wanted to do today for her birthday! So that’s all fine and dandy but I was starting to get antsy so I made my way over to our “kitchen” its not much of a kitchen but it works I guess haha it just has a sink and a counter top and whatever the teachers before us have left behind. I found a few girls in our teaching group in there singing so loud and making mashed potatoes or wannabe mashed potatoes... Russ’s potatoes have runied me. Not going to lie, I want much in the mood for singing etc but I was laughing because there is a construction site on the other side of the wall of the school and we are in the furthest building back on the very top floor so we can see over the wall. Especially in the kitchen because of where it is located. Well the girls had opened the window and decided to wave at the workers. The workers obviously loved it and started acting like little kids. Seriously, one of them took and empty box and put it on another guys head so then they were wrestling and then another guy was balancing a P.V.C. Pipe on his hand and I was sitting there watching all this going down trying to decide if this was real life! Haha after a little bit of that I gave up on pretending like that was interesting or fun and went into Rachelle and Crista's room and we were having a good ol H2H (heart to heart) when all of a sudden there was a HUGE bang! I looked over at the window just in time to see chunks of cement and dirt hitting the window as the girls from the rooms around us are screaming! Ben came in to see if we were okay ( their room is across the hall so his window is on the other side of the building) and ask what happened and then my heart sunk... the workers! So I made Ben go look out there to see if he could see anything and when the dust cleared he saw a tractor coming up and starting to dig with a trail of workers behind it! Long story short we know that it was a “controlled” blast and when I say controlled I mean the Chinese definition... so they knew it was going to happen. But the chunks of Cement that hit our building caused quite the ruckus! The security from our school was out there so fast! The police came and people living in our building were walking around outside. I didn’t go down to check it out because dinner was in 30min and I knew I would be seeing all of it soon. But let me just tell you, it was so loud and so big! When it was time for dinner, I walked out to see glass from shattered windows and blocks of cement and dirt all over... holy cow... that’s awesome! Only in China! At dinner I was talking to Jay, she was one of the girls singing and dancing to the workers and she told me that she was recording them and then one of them started to wave at them and motioned them to shut the window and back up. So they did that and walked into the other room and Jay started recording as they were all running away and ended up catching the whole thing on camera! I haven’t seen it yet but thats what she told me, so ill try to get a copy and send it!
After dinner we just vegged. bummed around and talked. I worked on my email that I sent that night and then we all got together because ben and josh got Sam treats but more importantly... ICE CREAM!!! so we put a few candles in there and sang to her and then we dug in! Oh man I love ice cream so much!
After ice cream I called it a night and hit the shower because it was warm and I was not. I will also have you know that I indeed have a good ol bruise from my encounter with the stairs the other day... its pretty legit.. until you know how I got it haha well time to turn in for the night! I get to teach tomorrow :)
