Well, I should have known carl wasn't kidding, I have eaten tongue... sick.
Today was... busy. But whats new? I got up at 6:20 and got all ready for the day and just talked to mom until Sam woke up and got ready. We didn’t have to be at the flag pole till 8:00 and I could have gone to the cafeteria for breakfast but I just wasn’t feeling it. Luckily Sam let me have a breakfast bar that she brought so it was all good and we met the group at 8:00am at the flag pole.
We got our pictures taken and Kelly, gave us a tour of the school. We saw our classrooms and the “gym” and we found where the boys got us water and the clinic, we saw the dumpsters and a million Chinese teachers and then headed up to the classrooms to clean. The director who has the keys was MIA so we had to change plans and we went into a room and got our teaching assignments! So I got assigned into group D with me, Jamie and Ben. And we teach 5- 7 year olds so 1st and 2nd grade. Not the little ones but hey they are still younger and I teach in the morning. We got our assignments and then talked about the times etc and went off to lunch. Ben wanted the older kids and I wanted the youngest kids so we didn’t get what we wanted but it was meeting half way. At lunch, this is where the fun begins... we got our food and sat down and lets be honest, its cafeteria food. You never know what’s going to be in there except for the rice. And rice is safe. Well I tired some things and ate this meat on one of the things served and it wasn’t great. In fact it was really weird and rubbery and I kind of had to gag it down. But its China so you never know what to expect and I just moved onto the rice. And then Sarah, came up to me and said that she is teaching the preschoolers and she was telling Ben that she wanted to teach the kids that I was going to teach so she wanted to know if I would want to switch. So I said yes! :) yay! I get to teach my little kids! Because I am teaching the preschoolers, they actually don’t have a place on campus for us. So every morning at 8:00 – 11:45 and we get in a car and get driven to another school and teach there. Its me and 3 other girls who will teach there! :) but that means that we don’t teach until Monday but we will go in and team teach tomorrow with other teachers until our classes start up. We cleaned up our stuff and yes, our trays etc are just as we leave them. Sigh... I really hope it is some UV sanitizer something.
After lunch we went back to the school and we cleaned and cleaned and cleaned and then worked on lesson plans and I am going to be teaching drama which is basically reading a book to them and then you ask questions and then they can act out the story and I really like it. Its really easy as far as lesson plans go so I got those all done but while I was doing that, I over heard someone talking about eating tonge... what?! So I said when did you eat that?! And they said oh it was the stuff that they served at lunch! … * gag * I almost got to taste the stuff twice! Anyways, we had to clean some more. That was pretty frustrating because people slowly kept disappearing and here was me and my other group that was all that was left ! O well, gotta do what you gotta do. We wanted to go eat at some noodles place tonight but we missed the last bus because we were all cleaning so instead we walked down the street to this random store and went inside and pointed at some pictures and ordered some random food. That seems to be the story of my life right now. But while we were eating the waitress who was a little older looking gave Rochelle a paper and she tried to read it and realized that it said something like her daughter is at our school right now! How cool is that?! So we are going to give it to Kelly to make sure that she can interpret that for us! :) we walked home and got inside and then relaxed. I found this pack of CDs of Enrique Iglesias with Chinese writing all over them so I have been listening to that right now just to change things up haha.
Josh was really struggling with the whole lesson plans. Sam was with her group and they were practicing for tomorrow and Ben came to use the washing machine. So I went over and helped josh with his lesson plan. I had him tell me what he is going to do and I just write it down for him and we got one done in 25min! So that was fun. I went back and I got ready for bed and noticed... drum roll please.... I GOT SUN! Wahoo!!! my face is pink so it means that the summer is coming!!! WAHOO! I am so stoked!! well I have my first day tomorrow! not really first but ill team teach so Wish me luck! 3-5-13
